National Kinship, Permanent & Foster Care Conference - August 2024
- 13 August 2024
Carer Kafe is pleased to have supported over 100 Victorian carers to attend the National Kinship, Permanent & Foster Care Conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre from Friday 9 August – Sunday 11 August 2024. Filled with engaging sessions and information sharing, it was a wonderful event with new and established carers from across the nation and practitioners networking.
Topics covered across the Conference included the wellbeing of carers, innovation, new ideas and creating new evidence, trauma and grief, issues impacting young people and NDIS, disability support and early intervention. Carer Kafe and its consortium partners, The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, Kinship Carers Victoria and the Victorian Aboriginal Child and Community Agency were amongst the exhibitors who provided information to carers and sector staff.
Feedback from carers has been very positive who greatly appreciated the opportunity to increase their knowledge and engage with other carers from all over the country:
“It was an amazing experience with many inspiring speakers.”
“It’s been a lonely ride this far, in fact many times it has felt isolating. In a room full of people, it made me quite emotional that the majority of us, are all carers, it truly puts it into perspective.”
“I just wanted to say what a fully packed weekend it was - and an overload of great information so thank you!”
"It was an amazing informative event. I got so much out of it."
"So much to learn from presenters and networking with fellow carers."
"Amazing Conference. I am so enthused and invigorated for what we all do!"
